Family Pictures Coming Soon!

photography, flowers, vegitation
My photography skills, as they stand right now.

I’m so excited for our family pictures this year.

I’m going to try to take them myself!

You probably think I’m crazy for it, right?

I might be, but I’ve been pinning a lot of articles about taking your own family pictures, how to get good shots, how to use Lightroom efficiently, etc.

So I’m hoping we can save a few hundred and just use pictures that I take with my Canon Rebel. I feel like I take good photos most of the time, and have learned a lot from taking my camera off auto mode and into manual.

I already have the tripod, shutter release remote, and we all recently got our outfits picked out.

Eeeek! I’m way too excited. And the weather should be lovely this weekend to take pictures near our house.

Cross your fingers that they come out amazing!

Anyone have any tips? Things not to do? Beginner mistakes? Leave a comment, I would love to hear from you!

  1. I took family photos of my sister, my mom and myself as a Christmas present for my dad one year. You said you have a tripod so as long as you either have a remote or a timer on your camera I’m sure your pictures will turn out great! Good luck with it 🙂

  2. we took our own last year!! I recommend not doing it during peek sun times 😉 and not with video and taking screen shots ha ha that’s what we did and we got a few decent shots but none that made it on our walls. We also did family photos with a friend just snapping them and they turned out great! Especially if you have good editing software and such you will be set! Good luck! 🙂

  3. I wish I could take our own family photos! But since the only camera I own is on my phone, I don’t think it’d work out too good, LOL. Good luck to you though, can’t wait to see how they turn out!

  4. good luck with the pictures. I need to have new ones done. we haven’t had one done since my youngest was a newborn and that was about 2 years ago.
